I am delighted to be supporting a highly regarded, multi-disciplinary consultancy in their search for a Senior Building Surveyor to join their established Building Services Engineering Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a career-driven professional looking to take on a varied and responsible role within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
Main Purpose of the Role
You will be responsible for ensuring all surveying work is delivered in full compliance with relevant statutory requirements and regulations, alongside maintaining internal records and systems to the standards required by the firm’s associated professional surveying institutions.
Key duties include:
- Acting as Contract Administrator on surveying commissions, including the preparation of specifications and drawings.
- Undertaking a wide range of building surveys, including Condition Surveys, Dilapidation Surveys, and DDA surveys.
- Providing design solutions and producing detailed reports.
- Advising on solutions to building pathology problems.
- Fulfilling the role of Party Wall Surveyor, and leading on dilapidations and other quasi-legal projects.
- Identifying and exploring new business opportunities on behalf of the company.
- Attending marketing functions and representing the company as required.
- Developing and maintaining close relationships with an established client base, liaising with group representatives, clients, other consultants, and contractors.
- Monitoring and managing the financial performance of projects using internal and client-specific systems.
- Demonstrating knowledge of public and private sector clients, particularly within the Housing, Transport, and Education sectors.
- Managing individual client workloads and framework agreements.
- Undertaking any other reasonable duties following consultation.
Requirements (Essential & Desirable)
- Essential: Committed to undertaking CPD in accordance with RICS regulations.
- Essential: Chartered Surveyor (MRICS) or CIOB member with a minimum of 5 years’ experience within the building sector.
- Enthusiastic, proactive, flexible, and adaptive in achieving team goals and targets.
- Able to collaborate effectively with the Assistant Manager/Manager.
- Willing to assist junior team members with technical queries.
- Presents a case with impact and conviction, whilst presenting facts clearly and logically.
- Projects a strong sense of confidence in handling difficult situations and achieving results.
- Displays persistence, determination, and energy in overcoming obstacles.
