About the Role:

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading property and facilities management organisation for an experienced Senior Health and Safety Advisor. This is a key role ensuring fire safety and legislative compliance across a substantial mixed-use portfolio, including higher-risk residential and commercial buildings. The successful candidate will act as a subject matter expert, supporting the business in meeting its obligations under the Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety Act 2021, and other relevant regulations, including upcoming requirements under Martyn’s Law. This is a visible and influential position requiring a proactive, practical, and collaborative approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and review health, safety and fire safety strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022, including the maintenance of the ‘golden thread’ of information for higher-risk buildings (HRBs).
  • Review third-party risk assessments and audit reports, ensuring they are suitable and sufficient, and support the closure of actions.
  • Provide expert advice to property and facilities managers on all health, safety and fire safety matters, including management of high-risk activities.
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and investigations across the UK portfolio.
  • Prepare and deliver engaging safety training to staff and contractors.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, ensuring robust corrective actions are implemented.
  • Monitor and report on safety performance to senior leadership and for external audit purposes (e.g., ISO 45001).

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A proven Health and Safety professional with experience gained within property management, facilities management, construction, or a related sector.
  • In-depth, working knowledge of UK health & safety and fire safety legislation, specifically relating to building safety and higher-risk residential buildings.
  • An excellent communicator and influencer, able to build strong relationships with operational teams, clients, and contractors.
  • Pragmatic, solution-focused, and capable of managing a varied and demanding workload.
  • Willing and able to travel regularly to sites across the UK.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Professional membership (e.g., IOSH, Institute of Fire Engineers).
  • Experience with digital compliance management systems.
  • Knowledge of emergency planning, Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs), and Martyn’s Law.

What’s on Offer:

  • A competitive salary and benefits package including pension.
  • Genuine scope to influence safety culture and compliance across a significant portfolio.
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • Support for ongoing professional development.
  • A clear path for career progression within a growing organisation.
