A nationally respected consultancy seeks a strategic leader to own, develop, and grow our Fire Consultancy Services. This is a high-impact, director-level role with ultimate responsibility for the technical product, team leadership, and commercial expansion of this key business unit.

Operating on a hybrid basis (field/home/office), you will define our market approach while directly contributing to prestigious projects.

The Role:

As the appointed head, you will initially assume full product ownership, setting the standard for our service delivery, templates, quality control, and legislative adherence. Your mandate will then evolve to lead the entire business unit, crafting and executing an ambitious growth strategy with the objective of building a division with a turnover in excess of £5m within four years.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Product & Technical Leadership: Act as the ultimate authority for our fire consultancy methodology, ensuring all work meets the highest technical and quality standards. Serve as the internal expert on fire safety legislation and engineering principles.
  • Team & Commercial Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of employed and associate consultants. Optimise productivity, manage budgets, and ensure efficient resource allocation to meet financial targets.
  • Business Development & Growth: Develop and implement a robust business plan. Work alongside Business Development to secure new contracts, expand services with existing clients, and drive sustained profitability.
  • Client & Service Delivery: Maintain senior client relationships, ensure exceptional service delivery on projects (including scoping, report writing, and site visits), and identify opportunities for added value.
  • Operational Excellence: Provide clear management reporting, oversee team administration, and actively contribute to operational and strategic discussions at board level.

The Candidate:

We are looking for a proven leader and Chartered Fire Engineer with a compelling blend of technical expertise and commercial acumen.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Chartered status in Fire Engineering (e.g., Chartered Fire Engineer, MCABE (C.Build.E), MIFireE, MIFSM).
  • Extensive, high-level technical knowledge and experience within Fire Engineering consultancy.
  • Demonstrable experience in person and financial management within a professional services environment.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and client-facing skills.
  • A proactive, strategic mindset with a proven ability to develop services and drive business growth.
  • Strong proficiency in standard Microsoft Office applications.
