Field Service & Maintenance Engineer - Air conditioning & Refrigeration
Location: North West (M62 corridor)
Salary: £32,000 - £38,000
Door to door pay; Allowances/Bonus package; O/T rates; Company van
The Field Service & Maintenance Engineer will form part of the company's wider Engineering Team, reporting directly to the Service Help-desk. The role involves delivering high-quality service, maintenance, and fault-finding support across a commercial client base, primarily within the leisure sector. The successful candidate will be encouraged to work collaboratively with other engineers, maintain excellent standards of workmanship, and provide a professional, customer-focused service at all times.
Responsibilities
- Carry out service, maintenance, and fault-finding on air conditioning systems, with exposure to refrigeration and heat pump systems where applicable
- Undertake installation and minor works on air conditioning systems as required
- Maintain high levels of quality, safety, and customer service across all client sites
- Attend commercial and leisure premises to diagnose and resolve system faults efficiently
- Liaise with the Service Help-desk to ensure accurate job updates, reporting, and closure
- From time to time, assist with project or installation works, supporting delivery on larger schemes
- Work closely with the Project Engineer when involved in project-related activities, including: coordinating with sub-contractors and other trades; communicating professionally with clients on-site
- Provide supervision, guidance, and support to apprentices and less experienced engineers
- Ensure all works are completed in line with company procedures, industry standards, and health & safety requirements
Training & Development
- Participate in an agreed training programme to support ongoing professional development
- Maintain a high level of attendance, commitment, and engagement with training activities
- Actively work to broaden technical skills and product knowledge
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience as a Field Service or Maintenance Engineer within air conditioning
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills on air conditioning systems
- A broad technical skill set covering: air conditioning service and maintenance; installation experience; exposure to refrigeration and/or heat pump systems (desirable)
- Good understanding of commercial building environments
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to mentor apprentices and junior engineers
- Strong communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with clients and colleagues
