Overview

In this interim-to-permanent Finance Director role, you will lead the UK finance function within a growing, highly regulated financial services group. You will partner with the senior leadership team to safeguard financial integrity, strengthen controls, and drive strategic planning and growth. The role includes client money governance, regulatory reporting, and overseeing audits, with international travel and potential to shape long-term finance leadership. You will work hands-on when needed while building a high-performing team and supporting acquisitions, ERP initiatives, and continuous process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and scale the UK finance team with strong controls and accountability
  • Oversee month-end, year-end and statutory reporting with accuracy and timeliness
  • Prepare and present board and lender reports including KPIs, forecasts and covenant analysis
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning
  • Ensure FCA compliance and client money governance, regulatory capital monitoring and reporting
  • Maintain robust internal controls, reconciliations and audit trails across trust and operating accounts
  • Manage cash flow, working capital and revenue recognition for optimal performance
  • Act as primary contact for auditors, regulators and lenders
  • Lead finance workstreams across acquisitions, integrations, ERP implementations and strategic initiatives
  • Drive continuous improvement and automation across billing, reporting and financial processes

Key requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ICAS/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
  • Significant senior finance leadership experience in financial services
  • Experience with regulatory reporting and financial governance
  • Strong understanding of client money controls and trust account management
  • Proven ability to manage external auditors and regulatory relationships
  • Commercial, strategic mindset with hands-on execution capability
  • Available to start interim with progression to permanent role
  • Experience in debt collection or publicly listed company is desirable
