Overview

In this role you will lead electrical design for building services across diverse sectors, guiding projects from feasibility to completion. You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated electrical solutions, ensuring compliance and high-quality delivery. You will mentor junior staff, enhance engineering standards, and contribute to sustainable design initiatives. This position offers the chance to shape high-profile developments within a supportive, client-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical design from feasibility to construction and project completion
  • Produce and review designs for power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, security systems, and renewables
  • Prepare calculations, specifications, and technical reports aligned with standards and client requirements
  • Coordinate with mechanical, structural, and architectural disciplines for integrated solutions
  • Attend meetings, build client relationships, and manage deliverables to meet quality, programme, and budget targets
  • Mentor and review work of junior engineers, graduates and technicians
  • Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, British Standards and industry best practices
  • Conduct site surveys and inspections; contribute to continuous improvement and sustainable design
  • Support innovation and high engineering standards across the business

Key requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or related discipline
  • Significant experience in a Building Services Consultancy delivering electrical building services designs
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems in commercial buildings
  • Experience across Healthcare, Education, Commercial, Residential or Mixed-Use sectors
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech/Trimble ProDesign, Dialux/Relux, and MS Office
  • Solid understanding of Building Regulations, British Standards and industry guidance
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to cultivate client relationships
