Site Supervisor

Experienced Site Supervisor with a strong background in highways, Section 278 works, kerbing, road construction, road resurfacing, drainage, and back-end groundworks.

Proven ability to supervise site teams, subcontractors, and plant operations while ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to specification.

Highly experienced in coordinating all aspects of highways and infrastructure projects, including excavation, drainage installation, kerbing, footways, carriageway construction, tarmac surfacing, reinstatement works, and related civil engineering activities.

Skilled in liaising with local authorities, utility companies, clients, subcontractors, and site management teams to ensure efficient project delivery and compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Key Responsibilities Supervision of Section 278 highway works on behalf of local authorities and principal contractors.

Managing day-to-day site operations for kerbing, road construction, road resurfacing, drainage, and associated groundworks.

Coordinating labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors to achieve programme targets.

Conducting daily site briefings, toolbox talks, and workforce inductions.

Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation, CDM Regulations, and company procedures.

Monitoring quality standards and ensuring works are completed in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.

Liaising with local authorities, highways inspectors, utility providers, clients, and project stakeholders.

Managing permits to dig, permits to work, traffic management requirements, and temporary works.

Maintaining site records, diaries, inspections, progress reports, and workforce documentation.

Identifying and mitigating site risks whilst promoting a positive safety culture.

Assisting Project Managers and Contracts Managers with programme delivery and resource planning.

Monitoring productivity and ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and within budget.

Key Skills & Experience Extensive experience within highways, civils, and infrastructure projects.

Strong knowledge of Section 278 works.

Experience supervising kerbing, drainage, excavations, road surfacing, and back-end groundworks.

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Strong understanding of Health & Safety and CDM Regulations.

Experience liaising with local authorities and highways departments.

Proven ability to manage multiple work activities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications SMSTS or SSSTS CSCS Card First Aid at Work NRSWA (desirable) Temporary Works Supervisor (desirable) CPCS/NPORS Plant Qualifications (desirable)
