Search Consultancy is looking for an experienced, hard-working Groundworker to join an active civil engineering project in Newton Abbot. We are partnering with a well-established contractor requiring a skilled operative capable of carrying out a range of civils and groundworks tasks on site.

The Role

  • Drainage & Utilities: Assisting with pipe laying, trenching, backfilling, and drainage installations to project drawings.
  • Slab & Kerb Laying: Laying kerbs, edgings, block paving, and flagstones, ensuring precise alignments and levels.
  • Concrete & Foundations: Shuttering, pouring, and finishing concrete for foundations, slabs, and footings.
  • General Civils: Assisting with site preparation, excavation support, and operating small site plant as required.
  • Site Safety: Adhering strictly to site RAMS, safe digging practices, and utility avoidance protocols.

Requirements

  • CSCS Card: Valid CSCS card (Skilled Groundworker / Blue Card preferred).
  • Tickets: Plant tickets (CPCS/NPORS for Forward Tipping Dumper, Ride-on Roller, or Excavator) are highly desirable.
  • Experience: Proven track record in general groundworks, drainage, and external works on construction or civils sites.
  • PPE & Tools: Full standard 5-point PPE and basic hand tools.
  • Right to Work: Must have a valid right to work in the UK.
