About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Freelance Mechanical Site Manager to join our team on a major commercial construction project in Leeds. Spanning a 6 to 12-month term, this contract will see you take full ownership of mechanical installations, ensuring all works are delivered safely, on schedule, and to the highest technical standards from pre-construction through to final handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Operations: Oversee day-to-day mechanical site activities, ensuring adherence to design drawings, specifications, and building regulations.
- Health & Safety: Maintain strict site safety compliance, review RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Schemes), and lead regular toolbox talks and safety audits.
- Contractor Management: Supervise and coordinate mechanical sub-contractors, monitoring their site productivity and progress against the master program.
- Quality & Commissioning: Conduct rigorous quality inspections and oversee the testing, commissioning, and handover documentation processes.
- Stakeholder Communication: Liaise effectively with the Project Manager, client representatives, and design teams to resolve technical site queries quickly.
Requirements
- Extensive experience operating as a Mechanical Site Manager within the UK construction industry.
- Relevant mechanical qualifications (e.g., HNC/HND, NVQ Level 6, or strong mechanical trade background).
- Valid SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
- Valid First Aid certification.
- Comprehensive understanding of HVAC, public health services, and building regulations.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and contract-management abilities.
