About The Role
Seaport Entertainment is looking for an Accountant based in our New York office for our rapidly growing company. Reporting to the VP, Corporate Controller and as a key member of the accounting team, they will perform various accounting functions for the company, with a focus on our Corporate Segment.
General Accounting
What You Will Do
- Support with day-to-day accounting operations.
- Analyze G&A expense accounts and prepare accrual journal entries as appropriate.
- Record and reconcile all payroll and benefits entries weekly.
- Manage end to end month end reconciliation and review process (Balance Sheets, P&L reviews, additional workpapers)
Bank And Cash Management
- Ensure proper reconciliation of various bank accounts and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner.
- Post daily cash journal entries and ensure accuracy.
- Fixed Assets and Prepayments:
- Identify, record, and ensure the timely capitalization of fixed assets.
- Track prepayments and post amortization entries as needed.
- Collaboration and Process Improvement:
- Raise accounting issues and coordinate with the accounting team to drive consistency across processes and controls.
- Assist with SOX preparation and testing.
Audit And Reporting
- Prepare quarter end 10Q/K supporting schedules and collaborate with various teams to consolidate data into footnote disclosures.
- Assist with audit requests by preparing necessary documentation and analysis.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Handle other ad-hoc assignments as needed.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- 3+ years of experience in an accounting or financial role preferred
- Knowledge of accounting procedures and principles with experience in supporting Accounting close processes.
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Dynamics or other equivalent ERP system.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Highly organized with attention to detail
- Thrives in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
Compensation range: 75k – 100K plus bonus and benefits
