We are looking for a Commercial Assistant to join our Commercial Department based in Spalding (37.5 hours per week). No previous construction experience is required – we are looking for the right person with a positive attitude, strong organisational skills, and a willingness to learn. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing housebuilding company and gain experience across all areas of the Commercial Department. You will learn about purchasing, subcontractor management, payments, invoicing, cost control and project administration, while developing valuable skills that can lead to a long-term career within the construction industry.

Working alongside our experienced Commercial team, you will receive hands‑on training and mentoring, giving you the opportunity to build your knowledge and progress within the business.

The Role:

  • Assisting with raising and managing purchase orders for materials and subcontractors
  • Checking and processing supplier invoices
  • Supporting the processing of subcontractor payment applications
  • Updating spreadsheets and maintaining accurate project information
  • Communicating with suppliers, subcontractors and site teams
  • Assisting with the procurement of materials and subcontractors
  • Helping to prepare reports and commercial information
  • Providing general administrative support across the Commercial Department

Over time, you will learn how construction projects are commercially run, from initial information preparation, purchasing and orders through to completion.

The Person:

Experience is not essential. We are looking for someone who is:

  • Reliable, enthusiastic and eager to learn
  • Organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Comfortable working with numbers
  • Confident communicating with colleagues, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Motivated to develop new skills and progress their career
  • Computer literate, with a basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

Full training will be provided, so previous experience in construction, buying or quantity surveying is not required. For those who want to progress this role can provide a pathway into areas such as:

  • Quantity Surveying
  • Buying / Procurement
  • Contracts Management
