Job Duties: Responsible to oversee and direct the day to day activities in finishing operations for approximately 95,700 swine as it relates to site cleanliness and vaccinating of animals; interact and make suggestions with respect to practices and Seaboard policies; oversee quality control function of Seaboard Farms production system; ensure that barns being marketed meet all cleanliness and bio-security requirements prior to placement of new animals; oversee quality control function of Seaboard Farms production system as it relates to animal vaccination; communicate with support departments and transportation for truck schedule for load out and receiving needs; provide development and training as needed to direct reports; spend time with new and current employees on a weekly basis; develop and train new and current employees; communicate personnel and Human Resource issues with employees; serve as contact with service departments; develop and communicate with support and employees weekly; maintain cost structure within parameters established by the company; manage and meet key production and cost targets; communicate Seaboard Bio-security, pig movement and personnel policies, practices and procedures to all employees and hold them accountable; implement all safety procedures and maintain list of current assets and equipment on hand as well as needs; maintain and upkeep vehicles and chutes; meet facility utilization targets; recognize areas of opportunity within the system; utilize CQI to change and improve areas of opportunity within the system; meet key production and cost targets; carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws; perform performance appraisals with employees on regularly scheduled intervals; and assure that production tasks, company policies and regulations are adhered to as outlined in training/procedures manuals. No hire/fire authority.
Requirements: Must have two years of swine experience. Experience must include the following: managing crew of persons tending to large farm livestock operations (including finishing, animal production activities) of at least 20,000 head; experience ensuring biosecurity protocols are followed; experience maintaining animal welfare and environment; experience training employees on day to day processes and developing a competent workforce; and experience submitting orders for farm supplies and maintenance needs. Must have good English communication skills. Must have experience reading and interpreting documents in the English language including safety files, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Experience writing routine reports and correspondence. Requires daily local travel to farm sites.
PAY RATE: Wage Range: $77,147.00 to $81,052.56
