As Head of Mechanical Engineering, you will ensure that SEA has the appropriately skilled workforce for the discipline and fit-for-purpose processes and access to current tools and standards in order to meet both short and long-term business objectives. The Head of Mechanical Engineering can be based at any of our three sites, Bristol, Barnstaple, or Beckington with regular travel to all sites. This role allows for flexible and home working. The salary for this role is up to £70,000, depending on experience.
What you will be doing:
- Develop the Mechanical Engineering workforce - produce, maintain and administer a competence and career framework for the discipline, considering the appropriate professional bodies. Set and review development objectives as part of the development discussions.
- The Head of Discipline will also be encouraged to undertake direct fee-earning work to remain current and to support the discipline. This is likely to take the form of chairing engineering gate reviews, evaluating technical feasibility and risk, and acting as senior reviewer for critical deliverables.
- Act in the capacity as “Process Lead” in developing and improving the processes (and related process assets) relevant to the discipline. This includes the design, maintenance, communication, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the relevant processes.
