What’s involved?

As one of our Aquarists you’ll play a key role in ensuring consistently high standards of display presentation and animal husbandry. You’ll support the running and maintenance of all off show areas including the quarantine areas and the maintenance of the individual displays life support systems. Plus, you\’ll have the chance to roll up your sleeves and dive into creative conservation projects that underpin the SEA LIFE Brighton mission.

Your day-to-day will involve:

  • Daily operations of our displays, including the health and safety of animals
  • Ensuring high standards of cleanliness, care, and innovation
  • Collaborating on animal acquisitions, transport, and quarantines, while meeting SEA LIFE’s ethical standards
  • Being a key player in animal husbandry and life support system maintenance
  • Developing displays, delivering fresh and exciting experiences for our guests
  • Developing yourself to achieve your career goals

This is a full-time permanent role with 40 hours per week on a rota basis, including weekends and bank holidays. This role will also include the need to be on site after hours and working on a call out rota.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Ideally you’ll have experience in the aquarium industry, with expertise in aquatic animal husbandry and life support systems.
  • Ideally, you’ll hold a degree or equivalent in a relevant field
  • Ideally a PADI Rescue Diver qualification or above (desirable)
  • Strong desire to develop your husbandry career
  • A creative mindset for developing engaging, educational exhibits.
