We’re seeking an experienced, motivated NPLQ Trainer / Assessor to join our training team and deliver high-quality lifeguard qualifications and continual professional development. You will deliver National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) courses, assess candidates to awarding body standards, and support ongoing skills development across our sites.
What your day will look like
- Delivering Excellent Training
- Plan and deliver NPLQ courses and refresher training in line with awarding body requirements.
- Create engaging, learner-focused sessions that combine practical scenarios with clear theory delivery.
- Use inclusive teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Assessing to Professional Standards
- Conduct formal assessments and record outcomes accurately and promptly.
- Provide constructive feedback to candidates and support action planning for improvement.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of assessment criteria and quality assurance processes.
- Championing Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Promote and model safe working practices and high standards of poolside supervision.
- Contribute to the review and development of training materials, scenarios and assessment tools.
- Support incident debriefs and integrate lessons learned into future training.

- Current NPLQ Trainer / Assessor qualification or equivalent recognised teaching and assessment qualifications.
- Proven experience delivering NPLQ and lifeguard training in a pool environment.
- Strong assessment and verification experience with accurate record keeping.
- Working knowledge of health & safety, safeguarding and poolside operational procedures.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — able to motivate and give clear feedback.
- Confident in scenario planning and realistic practical assessment.
- Organised, reliable and able to manage multiple courses and candidate records.
- Flexible approach to working hours, with the ability to travel between sites.
