Sea Global are delighted to be partnering with a leading organisation within the Rail and Transport sector to recruit a Senior Category Manager on a part time / job share basis. Reporting into the Head of Procurement, this role will take ownership of the Indirect category strategy while helping to manage a team of Category Managers.
The successful candidate will lead end-to-end procurement activity, oversee contractual agreements, and ensure compliance with the Procurement Act 2023. They are looking for an experienced procurement professional with strong public sector procurement expertise, commercial acumen, and leadership capability, ideally gained within transport, infrastructure, or another regulated environment.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver the Indirect Category Strategy and help manage a small team of Category Managers.
- Manage end-to-end procurement processes, including sourcing strategy, tendering, evaluation, negotiation, contract award, and supplier onboarding.
- Ensure compliance with the Procurement Act 2023, UK procurement legislation, and internal procurement policies and procedures.
- Oversee supplier relationship and contract management activity, drive procurement governance, and lead sustainability and responsible sourcing initiatives.
- Deliver procurement reporting and performance insights to senior leadership.
Experience & Requirements
- Proven experience across Indirect categories within a public sector or regulated environment.
- Strong understanding of the Procurement Act 2023.
- Demonstrable experience managing complex tendering processes.
- Experience leading and developing procurement teams within a fast-paced environment.
- Degree and MCIPS qualified (or working towards).
- Rail or wider infrastructure or public sector regulated experience.
