Freighter & Marine Engineer – London
Navis Consulting has an opening for a Freighter and Marine Engineer to join a large submarine telecommunications company based in London.
Responsibilities:
- Manage freighter mobilization and transfer operations worldwide for telecommunications cables and submerged equipment.
- Design cable storage and handling equipment.
- Oversee fabrication, commissioning, and maintenance of cable handling systems.
- Supervise teams, ensure QHSE standards, and control costs for freighter and depot operations.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers and vessel crews.
Desired Education, Training, and Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Marine Engineering and general onboard ship systems, including machinery and hydraulics.
- Basic understanding of vessel stability calculations, steel work, and CAD.
- Overview of materials used in marine engineering.
- Basic electrical engineering principles, including DC and AC circuit theory, and electrical power systems.
- Fundamentals of engineering mathematics, including differential equations.
- Knowledge of lifting, slings, offshore safety, and shipping qualifications.
- Experience with vessel itinerary planning, ISPS code, port operations, and dealing with regulatory authorities.
- Proficiency in computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic MCA certification.
