We are working on this vacancy on behalf of a specialist shipping line, which has been shipping between Europe and the Caribbean for many years and have a fantastic reputation for customer service & capability. The company is now looking to recruit an additional Vessel Operator to join their team. Ideally you will be working for a port operator, terminal or within a shoreside planning role with a liner company or shipping line or similar. The package really is open for the right person, depending on level and experience – please do not rule yourself out, our client is looking for exceptional candidate. The Role: As Vessel Operator you will be responsible for providing vessels, internal departments, and port agents with detailed loading plans for cargo working within the vessel capabilities. The successful candidate will work with the Marine team to supervise an efficient and cost-effective operation and chartered vessels, assist in developing necessary contingency plans. Also, to ensure sailing schedules are accurate, maintained and communicated at all times. Port supervision – when on call supervise the activities of discharge/load of the vessel whilst in its home port to ensure that operations are completed in a timely manner, plus on Call Duties – providing guidance and decisions during out of hours operations too. Essential Criteria: Marine planning experience i.e., with container vessels, out of gauge carriers Flexible hours Analytical approach Problem Solving Excellent Planning and Organization skills Excellent Communication skills Salary & Benefits: The salary will be very competitive and depending on experience, plus benefits. There is also the potential of 2 days remotely working from home a week if this suits.
