This varied role offers the opportunity to work closely with the UK finance team while acting as a key point of contact for four international offices (Madrid, Paris, Piraeus, and Singapore). You will build strong working relationships with overseas bookkeepers and advisors, providing essential day‑to‑day support. The Assistant Accountant will collaborate with the International Management Accountant to ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly management accounts for overseas offices, while also supporting UK accounting and reporting activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for overseas finance teams.
- Request, review, and post overseas cashbooks into the finance system.
- Reconcile overseas billing records, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Maintain overseas fixed asset registers, including recording additions/disposals and posting monthly depreciation.
- Manage and update prepayments and accruals schedules.
- Set up and record transactions across UK and overseas bank accounts, including performing reconciliations.
- Review, process, and track approval of invoices and expenses via SAP Concur, ensuring accurate coding and timely payment.
- Prepare supporting schedules and assist with VAT/GST and other regulatory submissions across multiple jurisdictions.
- Support intercompany processes, including invoicing, recharges, journal entries, and reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Contribute to the annual statutory audit process.
- Participate actively in team and departmental meetings.
- Undertake relevant training and support ongoing professional development.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Provide support across the finance function as required for both UK and international offices.
Qualifications & Skills
- Currently studying towards AAT or ACCA, with a strong desire to develop professionally.
- Proven ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload under tight deadlines while maintaining high accuracy.
- Strong team player with the ability to work independently when required.
- Solid understanding of double‑entry bookkeeping principles.
- Practical bookkeeping experience, including prepayments, accruals, fixed assets, and bank reconciliations.
- Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel (e.g. lookups, pivot tables).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience within a legal environment and familiarity with Aderant is desirable but not essential.
- Experience working with multiple currencies is advantageous.
