We are recruiting a Cook to join the team at Downs House, our warm and welcoming 46-bed residential care home in Petersfield. This is a part-time role preparing fresh, home-style meals for our residents within a friendly and supportive care home environment. The position offers consistent daytime shifts, a stable rota, and a calm kitchen setting. Perfect for someone who enjoys cooking traditional meals and is looking for a reliable role without late evenings or split shifts.

Pay & Hours

  • £14.00 per hour weekdays
  • £14.50 per hour weekends
  • 16 hours per week
  • Day shifts only: 7:00am – 3:00pm
  • Alternate weekend working required
  • Permanent contract

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Preparing and serving nutritious home-cooked meals
  • Cooking breakfasts, lunches, and light evening meals
  • Baking cakes and preparing simple desserts
  • Supporting residents’ dietary needs and preferences
  • Keeping the kitchen clean, safe, and organised
  • Working independently during kitchen shifts
  • Helping create a positive mealtime experience for residents

Who We’re Looking For

  • An experienced cook or kitchen assistant
  • Confident preparing traditional home-style meals
  • Reliable, organised, and punctual
  • Friendly and approachable
  • Comfortable working in a care home environment
  • Passionate about providing good food for older people

Experience in a care home, café, pub, school, or similar kitchen environment would be beneficial.
