We are recruiting a Care Assistant to join our team at Downs House & Stroud House Residential Care Home in Petersfield. Downs House is a welcoming 46-bed residential care home providing high-quality, person-centred care for older people in a calm, supportive environment. Stroud House is a 25-bed residential care home providing specialist elderly residential care, including dedicated support for residents living with complex dementia. We focus on creating a calm and reassuring environment where dignity, comfort and emotional wellbeing are prioritised at all times.

Location: Downs House & Stroud House, Petersfield

Hours: Days, 24 hours per week

Salary: £13.70 per hour (reviewed annually) + weekend enhancements

Contract: Permanent, Part-time

The Opportunity

We have exciting opportunities for Care Assistant Days to join our team at SDR Care. Working in a dementia-focused home requires patience, attentiveness and compassion. Many of our residents experience complex dementia, which can include confusion, memory loss, anxiety, disturbed sleep patterns and behaviours that require sensitive and skilled support.

As a Care Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting residents with their daily routines and wellbeing.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, person-centred care
  • Support residents with personal care and daily living tasks
  • Assist with mobility, continence care and repositioning where required
  • Provide reassurance and emotional support to residents
  • Respond promptly to call bells and resident needs
  • Monitor resident wellbeing and report any concerns
  • Support residents who may feel anxious, disoriented or distressed
  • Complete regular checks and accurate record-keeping
  • Administer medication safely (where trained)
  • Maintain a calm, safe and welcoming environment
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure continuity of care
  • Uphold safeguarding and infection control standards
