Patcham Nursing Home is looking for a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly kitchen team in Brighton. We are a 30-bed family-run nursing home, where residents receive personalised care in a warm and welcoming environment. Our kitchen team is an important part of creating a homely atmosphere, helping to provide nutritious meals and enjoyable dining experiences for our residents.

About the Kitchen Assistant Role

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will support the smooth running of the kitchen while helping prepare and serve nutritious meals for residents and staff. Previous kitchen experience is essential. What matters most is a positive attitude, reliability, and a genuine desire to support older people. Full training and support will be provided.

Role Details

  • £13.45 per hour
  • Weekend enhancements paid
  • Permanent contract
  • 31.5 hours per week
  • 9am - 6pm (Week 1) Tue, Wed, Thurs, Fri - (Week 2) Mon, Sat, Sun

Kitchen Assistant Responsibilities

  • Assist with basic food preparation and meal service
  • Support residents’ dietary requirements, including modified diets
  • Help maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment
  • Wash dishes and clean kitchen equipment
  • Assist with deliveries and stock storage
  • Follow food safety, health and safety, and infection control procedures
  • Support the cook and wider kitchen team
  • Help create a positive dining experience for residents
