Patcham Nursing Home is looking for caring, reliable, and enthusiastic individuals to join our kitchen team in Brighton. We are currently recruiting for:

  • Weekend Cook
  • Kitchen Assistant

Available Roles

  • Weekend Cook - £14.35 per hour (reviewed annually), Weekend enhancements paid, Permanent contract, 20 hours per week, Saturday & Sunday shifts
  • Kitchen Assistant - £13.45 per hour, Weekend enhancements paid, Permanent contract, 31.5 hours per week

About the Cook Role

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys preparing simple, nutritious, home-style meals in a calm and supportive environment. You will prepare freshly cooked meals that support residents’ wellbeing while helping create enjoyable mealtimes throughout the home.

Cook Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook breakfasts, lunches, and light evening meals
  • Provide two lunch options plus desserts
  • Bake cakes for birthdays and special occasions
  • Cater for both residents and staff
  • Support residents’ dietary and nutritional needs
  • Maintain high food hygiene and kitchen standards
  • Help create a warm and positive dining experience

About the Kitchen Assistant Role

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will support the smooth running of the kitchen while helping prepare nutritious meals for residents and staff. Previous experience is helpful but not essential - what matters most is a positive attitude, reliability, and a genuine passion for supporting older people.

Kitchen Assistant Responsibilities

  • Assist with basic food preparation and meal service
  • Support residents’ dietary requirements, including modified diets
  • Wash dishes and clean kitchen equipment
  • Maintain excellent kitchen cleanliness and hygiene
  • Assist with deliveries and stock storage
  • Follow food safety, health & safety, and infection control procedures
  • Work positively as part of a caring and supportive team
