About the Role:

The Strategic Communications Officer plays a central role in developing and delivering high-quality, strategically aligned communications that strengthen campaigns, shape narratives, amplify partner and champion efforts, and advance organisational priorities and influence. Working closely with the Communications Director, you will translate complex issues into compelling communications across digital platforms and support delivery of key organisational and executive communications outputs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Messaging and Narrative Development
    • Develop messaging and narrative frameworks aligned to organisational priorities
    • Design campaign communications concepts and rollout strategies linked to key moments
    • Translate complex issues into clear, compelling, audience-focused narratives
  • Campaign Communication Content
    • Produce outputs including FAQs, explainers, briefing notes and messaging frameworks
    • Ensure strong narrative coherence across all campaign communications
    • Lead social media messaging to support campaign visibility and engagement
    • Develop and manage website content and campaign landing pages
    • Manage newsletters and regular outgoing communications
  • Digital Platforms and Channels
    • Maintain high-performing digital channels and platforms
    • Lead audience segmentation and targeting approaches
    • Use analytics and insights to refine communications approaches
    • Support reporting through communications insights and performance data
  • Alignment and Coordination
    • Ensure consistent messaging across teams, partners and champions
    • Provide guidance to support adoption of agreed narratives
    • Support communications coordination across campaigns and key organisational moments

About you:

Qualifications, Skills, Experience and Knowledge

  • Degree in Communications, Journalism, Media, Public Affairs, International Development, Marketing, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Significant experience (typically 5-8 years) in strategic communications, advocacy or campaigning roles
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are an advantage
  • Strong storytelling capability, translating complex issues into compelling narratives
  • Experience developing communications strategies and campaign messaging across platforms
  • Excellent writing, editing and content development skills
  • Strong understanding of digital communications, audience engagement and analytics
  • Experience using insights to improve campaign performance
  • Ability to coordinate campaigns, communications calendars and stakeholders effectively
  • Familiarity with tools such as WordPress, Mailchimp, Canva and social media platforms
  • Awareness of emerging communications trends and digital engagement approaches
  • Strong organisational and project management skills
  • Commitment to the organisation's mission and values
  • Experience working across multiple countries is desirable
