Job Description: SDC Trailers is looking for a dynamic, personable, and knowledgeable welding professional to join our Training team in support of the Training Manager and Chassis Department. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their career while making a real impact on our workforce and opportunity to shape the next generation of welders. Key Responsibilities Deliver on-the-floor training for new starts, helping them reach the highest standards in the Chassis Department. Support the Training Manager in all aspects of training, from planning to execution. Maintain training records and ensure compliance across the department. Upskill existing operators to foster continuous development and growth. Assist in creating, updating, and distributing work instructions and single-point lessons to keep training materials relevant and effective. Contribute to health & safety validation and signoffs as required. Provide daily feedback on operator progress to supervisors and cell leaders. Support additional upskilling and development tasks as needed. Take on other duties to support the smooth operation of the training function. Requirements Essential Proven experience in MIG welding within an industrial or fabrication environment. Strong knowledge of chassis welding, with a keen interest in helping others develop their skills. Ability to read and interpret spec sheets and chassis drawings. Strong knowledge of welding processes, materials, and safety procedures. A natural communicator and problem solver with excellent interpersonal skills. Basic Microsoft Office and email skills, plus strong organizational and administrative abilities. Confidence in teaching technical skills while promoting a culture of safety and quality. Desirable Experience delivering apprenticeship or vocational training. Knowledge of additional welding processes (TIG, MMA). Experience working with learners of different ability levels. Work Environment: This role would be based in Toome in person and mainly based on the production floor with a small amount of time spent in the office updating training records. Hours of work: Monday to Thursday 6:00am to 16:30pm β 40 hrs/week
