The Role As our Buyer, you will manage the end-to-end procurement process for a wide range of materials & services, you will work closely with the rest of the SDC purchasing team to ensure that the materials arrive on a timely manner to suit the production schedule.

Key Responsibilities Placement of purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery and optimal inventory levels.

Built and maintained strong supplier relationships to secure favourable terms and priority service.

Negotiating with suppliers on to achieve cost savings, while maintaining quality standards.

Ensure production schedules are fully supported through effective material planning and procurement activities.

Monitored stock levels and coordinated with warehouse teams to prevent overstocking or shortages.

Support Goods In activities by verifying deliveries, resolving discrepancies and maintaining stock accuracy.

Work closely with Engineering, Sales and Production teams to align purchase activity with planned builds, project requirements, and changing priorities.

Criteria Essential Experience within procurement, buying, or supply chain.

Effective communication skills that can promote strong relationships with suppliers and work colleagues.

The Ability to negotiate effectively, enabling cost savings, improved delivery times and enhanced supplier performance.

Good organisational and time management skills.

Driven and motivated to achieve costs savings and strong supplier relationships.

Ability to understand and evaluate different pricing structures and cost breakdowns.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.

Minimum of GCSE Maths and English essential.

Desirable Experience working in a purchasing or procurement role within an engineering or manufacturing environment.

Basic understanding of the SDC manufacturing process.

Familiarity with the Exchequer software system would be beneficial.
