Athena Surgical Centre is seeking a detail-oriented Clinical Coder to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately coding medical records and clinical data, supporting high-quality patient care, ICB reporting, and compliance with healthcare regulations.
Working closely with healthcare providers, you will ensure that all medical diagnoses, procedures, and treatments are coded correctly and in a timely manner. This role offers the flexibility of remote working and the opportunity to support our commitment to improving healthcare delivery through accurate and reliable clinical coding.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyse clinical documentation to accurately assign codes to diagnoses, procedures, and treatments using appropriate classification systems.
- Ensure compliance with NHS coding guidelines and regulatory requirements to maintain accuracy, quality, and data integrity.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to clarify information and resolve coding discrepancies.
- Stay current with updates to NHS coding standards, healthcare regulations, and best practices.
- Generate reports and summaries as required to support audits, performance monitoring, and data analysis.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance coding knowledge and skills.
Qualifications
· NCCQ certified (or equivalent recognised clinical coding qualification).
· Proven experience in clinical coding within a healthcare environment, preferably within a hospital setting.
· Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, particularly in ENT.
· Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in coding.
· Ability to work independently and efficiently in a remote setting.
· Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with clinical staff.
