What’s the opportunity?
We’re on the lookout for a Transport Manager to come and join our team in Livingston. This is a key role as part of the logistics network and the successful candidate will lead the transport team, making sure our customers receive a 5 star service throughout the delivery process.
What does the role involve?
- Manage systems and processes for effectively unloading and receiving goods into the warehouse in line with company policy, ensuring stock is in perfect condition of customer orders
- Reducing the risk of vehicle overloading
- Making sure vehicles are properly maintained including carrying out inspections and arranging repairs and routine maintenance
- Ensuring that all drivers and operators have the correct, up to date qualifications
- Maintaining and completing accurate records
- Ensure the effective supervision of removal of packaging from goods received and appropriate disposal of waste materials in line with company policy to ensure a clean, safe and tidy working environment.
- Manage and assist team members in the moving, handling and storage of goods within the warehouse in line with established policy and work practices to ensure the good condition of customer goods and optimum use of warehouse space and facilities.
- Manage training in the moving, handling and loading of goods
- Operate and maintain systems for the security of the premises, personnel and stock, in particular securing and alarming premises and undertaking the morning security procedures in line with company practices
- Provide leadership to the entire team, including training and developing and motivating the team to optimise individual and collective work performance
- Manage systems as appropriate to ensure the cost effective use of delivery vehicles and staff, in turn ensuring the timely delivery of customer orders and optimum performance
- Manage the completion of all checks and documentation required by law on delivery vehicles and ensures that the appropriate documentation is kept on file and available for inspection at all times
- Effectively control stock levels, ensuring that monitoring of stock takes place in line with the ScS policies and procedures
- Manage systems for ensuring Health and Safety within the warehouse, in line with the Company’s Health and Safety policy to ensure the health and safety at work of all subordinates
- Provide management reports on Distribution Centre activity and delivery performance to ensure that business reporting requirements and timelines are met
- Deals as appropriate with customer enquiries and complaints to ensure a high standard of customer satisfaction is achieved.
