Main Responsibilities
- Assist the Monitoring Surveyor in the capture of on-site survey information, including levelling and total station survey observations, survey control network observations and topographical monitoring observations.
- Assist the Monitoring Surveyor to ensure completion of the daily, weekly and monthly monitoring surveys, and quality assurance of the data in accordance with the contract requirements in a timely manner.
- Be able to self-deliver some tasks following a thorough briefing from the Monitoring Surveyor.
- Following an initial onsite training be able to undertake daily levelling runs to the project standards & procedures with minimal supervision.
- Be responsible for the care, maintenance and administration of specialist survey equipment, ensuring equipment is in order and available to complete survey activities as required.
- Be responsible for the safety and wellbeing of themselves and their colleagues.
- Be familiar with, and demonstrate commitment to the requirements of the Health & Safety and Environmental Policies.
- Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partner’s Monitoring commitments and requirements as related to Instrumentation and Monitoring.
- Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project.
The Ideal Candidate
- A readiness for the continuous learning of the techniques and procedures of Engineering Surveying.
- An aptitude for mathematics, such as algebra, will be advantageous.
- GCSE Grade 4 (or equivalent) or above and an aspiration for further development are desirable.
- Previous survey experiences and associated works would be advantageous.
- An openness to working a shift pattern including weekend working on a rota.
- Flexibility for ad-hoc changes to the working hours to meet access requirements to third party premises.
- A commitment to punctuality is required to ensure timely delivery of Monitoring Survey tasks in order not to delay the program.
- Good communication skills as you will be required to deal with third party stakeholders, members of the public, construction site teams and client representatives.
- Capable of spending last parts of the day on their feet remote from the project sites.
