The predicted salary is between 28000 - 35000 £ per year.

In general, the function of Engineering Support is to assist the Tunnel Engineering team in the engineering management of the various tunnel works.

Responsibilities include

  • Assist with the preparation of tunnel‑specific documentation to enable the works to progress without delay.
  • Collate data to support the implementation of the PTE process, including providing tunnel‑drive‑specific input into the SRG meetings.
  • Assist with engineering administrative tasks to support the various engineering functions.
  • Provide stand‑in cover for the Tunnel Engineers.
  • Conduct tunnel visits for data collection and review.
  • Contribute to the Shift Review Group (SRG) and Permit to Excavate (PTE) process, including the technical review of ground movements from tunnelling works and reconciling the ground movements against TBM parameters.
  • Contribute to the QA function for the tunnel drives and ensure that the required assurance evidence is obtained and stored correctly.
  • Manage progressive assurance for tunnel segments by creating and reviewing documentation packages.
  • Act as a focal point between the various 3rd parties/utilities teams and the tunnel delivery team, ensuring that 3rd party approvals are actioned within the SRG as necessary.
  • Ensure that engineering aspects of tunnel management are captured in the programme.
  • Review technical submissions.
  • Assist in reviewing instrumentation and monitoring data for surface movements due to tunnelling.
  • Review ground movement assessments to understand predicted movements of third‑party assets.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree (working towards chartership).
  • Tunnelling experience preferred but not essential.

Reporting to: Tunnel Engineering Manager.
