Overview
The role will work on the HS2 project as part of the Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) team delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. The scope includes twin-bored tunnels, SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and construction of site compounds. Flexible working options may be available; salary is competitive with an excellent benefits package.
Responsibilities
- Take a leading role in multi-disciplinary "Squad" reviews to influence and determine procurement and packaging strategies.
- Active participant in collaborative multi-disciplinary planning meetings.
- Devising tender competition strategies and scoring matrices to engage the most appropriate supply chain.
- Commenting upon and drafting subcontract works information, site information and tender documentation.
- Drafting Subcontract Data, selecting contractual options, drafting schedules of variations to contract, assessing subcontract scope to draft pricing schedules.
- Reviewing all tender documentation to ensure consistency and compatibility with contractual and project requirements.
- Setting strategies for and responding to tender queries, leading mid and post tender interviews.
- Tender reviewer and validating tender reports and recommendations.
- Approving subcontracts for governance and execution.
- Commercial management of significant subcontract packages through to final certification including change control and coordination with area teams.
- Budget setting, forecasting and reporting.
- Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies and statutory requirements; ensure applicable requirements within the discipline are implemented on the project.
- Lead and develop a culture of safety and continual improvement, with zero tolerance for incidents and a focus on quality and environmental performance.
- Lead Commercial Management for the work, mobilising resources to site to maintain HS2 programme and budget; manage a diverse team of operational and commercial staff.
Qualifications
- RICS/CICES accredited Degree (or equivalent)
- Full Membership of RICS or CICES (or equivalent)
- Post-graduate commercial experience in the construction industry with demonstrable track record of achievement
- Demonstrable financial and commercial acumen
- Demonstrable experience delivering commercial leadership on utility-based projects or works
- Extensive experience drafting effective contractual correspondence and facilitating collaborative solutions
- Demonstrable legal, contractual and construction knowledge and experience
- Experience implementing and delivering strategic objectives and associated change programmes
- Confidence and ability to assert influence
- Creative, strategic and innovative approach to problem-solving
Note: The role requires familiarity with HS2 project information and contract details related to HS2 MWCC and ensuring compliance by the area delivery team.
