The Terminal Supervisor will join the SCS Logistics team that manages construction logistics across the HS2 main works for Area South. The Assistant Terminal Manager will report to the Terminal Manager. They will be responsible for operating the rail terminals and ensuring that the team delivers industry leading safety standards and a performance record that surpasses the expectations of the client, HS2.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Health and Safety culture and resulting behaviour that supports the objectives of both SCS and HS2
  • Effective management of both rail terminals that supports the overall delivery in‑line with the budget and P&L accounts
  • Terminal performance that positively promotes rail freight and assists in marketing its use for future major infrastructure projects
  • Leadership that engages the terminal teams and supports the health and wellbeing of its employees
  • Implementation of effective ‘Lean’ practice into the daily operation
  • Health, Safety, Wellbeing, and compliance of the staff and sub‑contractors on‑site at both Willesden Euro Terminal and West Ruislip rail terminal
  • Responsible for asset utilisation and their operational cost
  • Stockpile management and interaction with TBM teams to maintain an efficient logistics plan
  • Terminal performance
  • Contractor management in‑line with the SCS code of conduct
  • Accident and incident investigation and reporting
  • Support and mentor the Rail Logistics Terminal Supervisors

The role is aimed at an individual who has had experience at managing rail/logistics terminals and must be able to establish excellence in leadership and demonstrate an ability to multi‑task with an organised approach.

Qualifications

  • Experience of operating logistics/rail terminals
  • Ability to demonstrate a leadership style that will promote a high‑class safety and performance culture
  • Health and Safety qualifications required: IOSH or equivalent level of experience, Personal Track Safety (PTS)
  • Ability to assess, write, and implement effective risk assessments, safe systems of work/RAMS, and methods of work
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English (essential)
  • Good organisation skills (essential)
  • Good desktop IT skills e.g. Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint (essential)
  • Experience of logistics control and managing disruption
  • WAMITAB certification (desirable)
  • Experience of managing subcontractors
  • In‑depth understanding of rail freight assets, plant, and machinery and how they are utilised and maintained (desirable)
  • Experience of inventory management
  • Proactive and collaborative approach working with all stakeholders
