The role involves working closely with the Asset Delivery Lead and having overall responsibility for all aspects of commercial management associated with the Asset. This includes the commercial administration of the MWCC requirements, managing Early Warnings, Staff Forecasting, and collaborating with the Work Package/Subcontract Commercial Team, Change Team, Project Controls Team, and the Risk and Planning Team.

You will be responsible for reporting the commercial performance of the Asset, providing commercial support, and advising the Asset Teams on contractual and commercial matters. You will work as part of the wider Commercial Team (SHDU and MWCC) to support the delivery of the overall SHDU objectives set by the Commercial Lead for SHDU, ensuring good communication and compliance with SCS policies and procedures.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Defining and maintaining a complete asset scope in a transparent format that reflects changes instructed by HS2.
  • Clearly identifying how each aspect of the scope is being delivered, whether through self-delivery or subcontractors.
  • Commercially dealing with Asset NCRs and Defects, ensuring correct contractual processes are followed to avoid MWCC Disallowed Costs.
  • Understanding the Asset Route to Assurance and Handover, coordinating with the Assurance Team to ensure all subcontractor information is received before issuing Completion Certificates.
  • Communicating any remaining scope that needs to be procured to the procurement team for inclusion in their schedule.
  • Working closely with the procurement team to ensure timely procurement of the scope to meet the programme.
  • Issuing instructions to subcontractors promptly to avoid delays.
  • Ensuring the Stage 5 design scope for subcontractors is clearly understood and design progress is visible.
  • Supporting the Delivery Team in understanding scope.
  • Reviewing the Asset Programme narrative before submission to HS2, ensuring it reads contractually and commercially accurately, including cross-referencing CEs/PMIs, EWNs, and the programme reflecting causes for variances.
