We work with UK Public Sector clients to build impactful, award‑winning digital services that improve millions of lives. We take pride in our people, culture and work‑life balance as we do in creating services that impact millions of lives. Collaborative, entrepreneurial and dedicated to problem‑solving, we bring the step change our customers need to sustain innovation.
About the role
You will work as a forward deployed engineer embedded within a security‑focused capability unit, designing, building, and deploying AI‑powered tools that drive measurable improvements in cyber security and fraud prevention. Working closely with technical teams and operational stakeholders, you will turn requirements into governed, production‑ready solutions delivered on approved cloud platforms. This is a hands‑on engineering contract — you will own work from prototyping through to deployment, contributing to a mission‑critical security programme at scale.
Core technical skills
- Deploying and managing solutions in AWS using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), maintaining compliance with governance and security standards.
- Configuring and managing GitLab CI pipelines to automate testing, infrastructure provisioning, and deployment across environments.
- Implementing unit, integration, and performance tests to ensure reliability, correctness, and reproducibility across all release cycles.
- Working with monitoring tooling and incident workflows to track system health, detect anomalies, and respond to failures in real time.
- Experience with large‑scale data storage and querying – relational and non‑relational – within secure, governed cloud environments.
- Building and deploying AI‑powered capabilities, ideally in a security, fraud, or operational context within a regulated environment.
What we're looking for
- Demonstrable experience in AWS cloud engineering with Terraform for infrastructure as code.
- Hands‑on delivery of CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI across multiple environments.
- Strong understanding of software testing at all levels: unit, integration, and performance.
- Practical experience with observability platforms and on‑call/incident management.
- Comfortable working across big data technologies and large‑scale database architectures.
- Ability to engage confidently with engineers, security professionals, and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Experience working in Agile delivery teams, ideally within a government or regulated environment.
- Active SC clearance held at point of application — this is a strict requirement.
Commitment to diversity & inclusion
We are committed to building diverse teams and fostering an environment where everyone can thrive. We actively welcome applications from women, people from ethnic minority backgrounds, disabled people, those returning to work after a career break, and anyone from a group currently underrepresented in technology and security roles. We know that diverse teams build better, more resilient products. If you do not meet every requirement listed above but feel strongly that this role aligns with your experience, we encourage you to apply. Skills can be grown — perspective and drive are equally valued. We are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements, reasonable adjustments, or any support you may need throughout the process. Please reach out to discuss what works for you.
Working arrangements
This role is based in Newcastle with a requirement for three days on site per week. The remaining days may be worked remotely. Due to the security nature of the programme, all work must be conducted within approved environments and platforms.
