Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Performance Tester (Active SC Cleared) to deliver hands-on load and performance testing across large-scale digital services and backend applications. This is a technical, delivery-focused role operating in structured and governed environments where performance, resilience, and scalability are critical to service success. The successful candidate will have experience working with cloud-based distributed services and performance testing within AWS-hosted environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute load, stress, volume, soak, and scalability tests
- Analyse performance results, logs, and system metrics to identify bottlenecks
- Gather and validate performance Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs), volumetrics, and capacity assumptions
- Prepare and maintain performance test scripts and execution runbooks
- Execute performance tests in cloud-hosted (AWS) non-production environments
- Raise performance defects with clear technical evidence
- Support CI/CD integration for performance testing where required
- Contribute to test reports, defect triage, and test completion evidence
- Collaborate closely with developers, architects, platform, and operations teams
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in performance testing of enterprise-scale systems
- Hands-on delivery experience using tools such as: JMeter, Gatling, LoadRunner, k6 (or equivalent)
- Solid understanding of: APIs and HTTP protocols, Databases, Messaging systems, Caching mechanisms, Backend and distributed system performance characteristics
- Experience analysing logs and monitoring data
- Familiarity with Agile and hybrid delivery models
- Experience working in regulated or high-assurance environments
