Role Overview
As an Enterprise Architect, you will be responsible for defining and governing enterprise-wide technology strategies, architectures, and roadmaps. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, business leaders, delivery teams, and solution architects to ensure technology investments align with organisational goals and support future business needs. The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking with strong technical expertise and will be capable of influencing decisions at both executive and delivery levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and maintain enterprise architecture strategies, principles, standards, and governance frameworks.
- Develop and manage enterprise technology roadmaps aligned to business objectives.
- Provide strategic guidance on technology investments, transformation initiatives, and digital programmes.
- Assess current‑state architectures and define future‑state architecture models.
- Ensure alignment between business strategy, operating models, data, applications, infrastructure, and security architectures.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand organisational goals and identify technology opportunities.
- Provide oversight and assurance across solution architecture and delivery activities.
- Lead architecture reviews, design governance forums, and technical decision‑making processes.
- Identify risks, dependencies, and opportunities across the enterprise technology landscape.
- Support cloud adoption, modernisation, integration, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Promote architecture best practices, standards, and continuous improvement across the organisation.
- Mentor architects and engineering teams while fostering a strong architecture community.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience working as an Enterprise Architect within complex organisations.
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, ArchiMate.
- Experience developing enterprise architecture strategies and transformation roadmaps.
- Strong knowledge of Application Architecture, Data Architecture, Infrastructure Architecture, Cloud Architecture, Security Architecture.
- Experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Strong understanding of integration patterns, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Experience supporting large‑scale digital transformation and modernisation programmes.
- Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders and executive leadership teams.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and strategic planning skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilities.
Desirable Skills
- Experience working within public sector or regulated environments.
- Familiarity with the principles and standards of Government Digital Service (GDS).
- Experience with cloud migration and legacy system modernisation programmes.
- Understanding of cybersecurity, data governance, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
- Experience working within Agile and product‑led delivery environments.
- TOGAF, cloud architecture, or related professional certifications.
- Experience leading architecture governance boards and enterprise design authorities.
