Ready to design the electronics behind world-class precision technology? We’re looking for a talented Electronic Engineer to join an advanced UK Technology Hub in Maidenhead. This is a rare opportunity to work on the design and delivery of bespoke, high-precision machinery and instrumentation for a globally respected organisation with over a century of engineering innovation. You’ll be working on real machines and physical systems, not consumer gadgets or pure software.
Location: Maidenhead, UK
Working pattern: 3 days on-site / 2 days remote
What You’ll Be Doing
- Design and deliver electronic systems from concept through to production.
- Create multi-layer PCB designs and schematics using Altium Designer.
- Develop embedded firmware in C/C++ for microcontroller-based systems.
- Design and implement motor control systems (stepper, DC, AC, servo, or BLDC) for precision machinery.
- Build, test, debug, and validate hardware in a hands-on environment.
- Ensure designs meet EMC, safety, and regulatory compliance requirements (training provided if needed).
- Collaborate with mechanical, software, and automation engineers.
- Support technical leadership and mentoring of junior engineers.
What We’re Looking For
- Degree (BEng/BSc or higher) in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar, OR equivalent practical experience.
- Strong, hands-on background in hardware and multi-layer PCB design.
- Proficiency with Altium Designer (or strong PCB design tool experience with willingness to learn Altium).
- Experience with embedded C (C++ is a plus) and microcontrollers.
- Practical experience with motor control (stepper, DC, AC, servo, or BLDC).
- Comfortable owning work across the full product development lifecycle.
Desirable:
- Awareness of EMC, safety standards, and compliance.
- Ability to provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.
- Experience with multiple motor types.
Why This Role?
- Work on high-precision, real-world engineering problems.
- Design electronics that directly power complex, bespoke machinery.
- Be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary R&D environment.
- Combine hands-on engineering with technical leadership.
- Build technology that makes a genuine global impact.
If you’re a hands-on electronics engineer who enjoys building and owning real hardware, we’d love to hear from you.
