Company Description Scribes of Billingshurst is a local establishment serving the Billingshurst community with freshly prepared food in a welcoming setting. We are looking for a Cook to join our team to help prepare our popular full English breakfasts and other meals including sandwiches, jacket potatoes, salads, etc.
The post can be either full-time or part-time. Hours are 7.30 am until 4.30 pm Mon-Sat and 8.30 am until 3.30 pm on Sundays.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working as a cook, line cook, or in a similar professional kitchen role.
- Strong knowledge of basic cooking techniques, food preparation, and safe operation of kitchen equipment.
- Understanding of food hygiene, safety regulations, and allergen awareness, with relevant certifications preferred.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and maintain attention to detail during busy service.
- Good communication skills and a collaborative approach to working within a small kitchen and front-of-house team.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, as required.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights in a kitchen environment.
- Passion for cooking, an interest in fresh ingredients, and openness to learning new recipes and techniques.
