Reporting to the B2B Manager, Account Managers are responsible for the mid value accounts, seeking out opportunities to grow the sales of our existing business customers and to build strong professional, lasting relationships with the organisations we manage. AM’s will take responsibility for their accounts across a sector. Operating in a sales-based environment, you will ensure delivery of a number of KPIs whilst demonstrating the drive and commitment to exceed targets and operate within Business visions and values. The ability to build long term strategic account reviews to become true business partners and grow the account to our high value range.

This role is field based, so you must have a valid driving licence.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver an effective strategic account plan to deliver long term growth and a business partnership to your customers
  • Take responsibility to manage accounts through development and maintenance of customer relationships which promotes increased spend though detailed understanding of customer needs and requirements.
  • Analyse data to identify sales opportunities with existing customers and develop an appropriate strategy to convert opportunities to increased spend
  • Working successfully with internal stakeholders (Trade UK, Market Managers, Marketing, Supply Chain, Legal etc) to develop creative solutions for customers from existing Screwfix range and proposition
  • Proactively visiting customers’ sites and Head Offices to ensure a strong professional relationship is maintained and sales growth is achieved, through an effective CRM system
  • Ensuring our contractual frameworks with customers are valid, in date and commercially sound that allows continued long term growth and profitability
  • Keeping up to speed on all relevant industry and B2B news, products and innovations, including being aware of competitors in our marketplace.
  • Be able to assess what spend is being given to our competitors and try to capture this through the strategic account plan
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively to all levels in all organisations
  • Working closely with the Sales Support Manager to plan in and execute sales growth call campaigns on a weekly basis to increase spend, prevent down spend and actively grow accounts

  • Sales driven individual who thrives in a results driven, professional B2B sales environment, self-motivated with great organisational skills and a strong sense of customer ownership
  • A strong communicator who presents and communicates effectively with all types of customers and stakeholders, building relationships that last with different types of businesses
  • Excellent verbal & written communications skills
  • Flexible & adaptable – able to work on own initiative and as part of a team in a challenging, fast paced sales environment
  • A well organised approach to managing workload, being able to prioritise effectively and demonstrate strong time management skills
  • Commercial and industry awareness is key
  • Customer focus – Proactively seeks customer feedback to adjust and modify service strategy within own area. Manages customer expectations and develops solutions to meet customer needs
  • Communication – Communicates clearly, articulately and with conviction when speaking with an individual or before a group. Adapts content and style to their audience
  • Influencing and Negotiating – Positively influences others, creating acceptance and support for ideas. Is skilled in negotiation to create win-win solutions. Wins concessions without damaging relationship
  • Relationship Building – Proactively identifies new and important professional working relationships and works to develop them over time. Develops effective working relationships between others within group or team situations.
