We have an exciting opportunity for a Contracts Engineer to join the UK’s largest and most diverse geotechnical and ground engineering contractor.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Effectively manage the site operations, ensuring projects are delivered safety, to a high quality, remain cost effective and delivered to customer satisfaction.
- Plan and sequence of operations, including writing method statements and risk assessments, and procuring sub-contractor, labour, plant and material resources.
- Implement operational quality control measures and quality assurance processes.
- Process work plans for each job including calculation of cost allowances.
- Drive the progress of each project, ensuring each job is monitored and each member of the Contract Team is aware of their responsibilities.
- Take a proactive approach in the responsibility for the Health and Safety of the project ensuring all required documentation in place.
- Ensure full communication across all management levels within the project.
- Check awaiting goods and follow up on equipment required, arranging deliveries.
- Attend regular meetings with the client to discuss and appraise the performance of contract.
- Ensuring that all operatives are provided with the necessary resources, materials and information for the carrying out of their duties and for ensuring that safe working practices are followed.
- Conduct self in a way that reflect and promotes the Van Elle company values.
- Understand and act in accordance with Van Elle’s policies and procedures.
- Any other tasks that you may reasonably be required to undertake.
Who We’re Looking For
- Valid CSCS would be beneficial.
- Previous practical experience from construction / GI sector in a similar role.
- Have demonstrable ability to thoroughly plan for effective project implementation.
- Numeracy and the ability to make mathematical calculations.
- The ability to understand and interpret data.
- Effective planning and organisation skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy Methodical and structured approach to problem solving
- A can-do attitude with a flexible approach
- Strong IT skills, with experience in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Personable with strong communication and relationship building capabilities across all levels of the business.
- Practical, logical, and able to solve problems quickly.
- Ability to work under pressure

- Eligible to work and live in the UK.
- Flexibility to travel in the UK.
- A full driving licence, that is valid in the UK (essential)
What You’ll Get In Return
- Competitive salary depending on experience.
- Hours of work are 7.30am – 5.00pm, Monday to Friday however flexibility is required
- 25 days holiday plus bank/public holidays.
