We have an exciting opportunity for a Contracts Engineer to join the UK’s largest and most diverse geotechnical and ground engineering contractor.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Effectively manage the site operations, ensuring projects are delivered safety, to a high quality, remain cost effective and delivered to customer satisfaction.
  • Plan and sequence of operations, including writing method statements and risk assessments, and procuring sub-contractor, labour, plant and material resources.
  • Implement operational quality control measures and quality assurance processes.
  • Process work plans for each job including calculation of cost allowances.
  • Drive the progress of each project, ensuring each job is monitored and each member of the Contract Team is aware of their responsibilities.
  • Take a proactive approach in the responsibility for the Health and Safety of the project ensuring all required documentation in place.
  • Ensure full communication across all management levels within the project.
  • Check awaiting goods and follow up on equipment required, arranging deliveries.
  • Attend regular meetings with the client to discuss and appraise the performance of contract.
  • Ensuring that all operatives are provided with the necessary resources, materials and information for the carrying out of their duties and for ensuring that safe working practices are followed.
  • Conduct self in a way that reflect and promotes the Van Elle company values.
  • Understand and act in accordance with Van Elle’s policies and procedures.
  • Any other tasks that you may reasonably be required to undertake.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Valid CSCS would be beneficial.
  • Previous practical experience from construction / GI sector in a similar role.
  • Have demonstrable ability to thoroughly plan for effective project implementation.
  • Numeracy and the ability to make mathematical calculations.
  • The ability to understand and interpret data.
  • Effective planning and organisation skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy Methodical and structured approach to problem solving
  • A can-do attitude with a flexible approach
  • Strong IT skills, with experience in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Personable with strong communication and relationship building capabilities across all levels of the business.
  • Practical, logical, and able to solve problems quickly.
  • Ability to work under pressure

Other Requirements

  • Eligible to work and live in the UK.
  • Flexibility to travel in the UK.
  • A full driving licence, that is valid in the UK (essential)

What You’ll Get In Return

  • Competitive salary depending on experience.
  • Hours of work are 7.30am – 5.00pm, Monday to Friday however flexibility is required
  • 25 days holiday plus bank/public holidays.
