Scratch Creative is a UK-based design studio specialising in retail environments, brand experiences, and live events worldwide. Since 2020, we’ve partnered with some of the world’s leading brands to deliver concepts that challenge convention and captivate audiences.

As we continue to scale, we are seeking a highly experienced Head of Production to join our leadership team and oversee the successful delivery of large-scale projects and productions. This is a senior hire that will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, leading our production function, and ensuring the highest standards across every project.

The Role

As Head of Production, you will be responsible for overseeing the full production lifecycle of our retail, event and brand experience projects – from pitch through to delivery. You will work closely with the leadership team to shape production strategy, lead project teams, and ensure commercial and creative excellence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing the production department and our partners across multiple large-scale projects simultaneously.
  • Developing and maintaining production standards, processes and ways of working across the studio.
  • Acting as the senior point of contact for clients on all production matters, building trust and long-term relationships.
  • Overseeing budgets (typically £150k–£750k), resourcing, procurement and financial control, ensuring projects are delivered profitably.
  • Partnering with our design and creative teams to ensure seamless translation from concept to execution.
  • Managing and negotiating with global suppliers, contractors and partners, ensuring quality, cost efficiency and sustainability.
  • Leading onsite delivery, ensuring health & safety, compliance and quality assurance at all times.
  • Building and mentoring a production team, including freelance specialists, to scale with the business.
  • Driving innovation and problem-solving to keep Scratch at the forefront of experiential and retail production.

The Person

We’re looking for a proven production leader who thrives in a fast-paced, creative environment and can deliver complex projects to the highest standards.

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in senior production / project management roles within events, experiential, or retail design.
  • Technical knowledge of event production, staging, AV, logistics, set build and fabrication.
  • Proven track record of delivering multi-six and seven-figure projects from concept to completion.
  • Strong commercial acumen with responsibility for project budgets and overseeing annual project revenues exceeding £10m.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with experience building and developing production teams.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams at all levels.
  • A solutions-driven mindset with meticulous attention to detail.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with CAD and design software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Vectorworks, 3DsMax).
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Relevant industry accreditations (e.g. IOSH, PRINCE2, PMI).
