We are currently recruiting experienced and dedicated Support Workers to work within children’s residential homes supporting young people with a range of emotional and behavioural needs. This role involves supporting children and young people who may come from traumatic backgrounds and present with challenging behaviours, learning disabilities and mental health needs. We can offer flexible agency work with long-hour shifts available, alongside excellent opportunities for permanent employment. Many of the homes we work with regularly offer permanent contracts to agency staff based on performance, reliability and suitability within the service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting young people with their day-to-day routines and activities
- Acting as a positive role model and providing emotional support
- Assisting with cooking, household tasks and maintaining a safe home environment
- Supporting young people to attend school, appointments and family contact sessions
- Building positive and professional relationships with young people
- Encouraging participation in activities and supporting engagement within the community
- Managing challenging behaviours in a calm, professional and supportive manner
- Working collaboratively with residential teams to provide high-quality care and support
Requirements:
- A calm, patient and resilient nature
- Ability to build effective relationships with children and young people
- Confidence supporting individuals with challenging behaviours and complex needs
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
- Minimum 6 months’ experience working with children or young people within residential care, education, SEN, youth work, family support or similar settings
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
- Applicants must be aged 21 or over
