We are currently recruiting experienced and compassionate Residential Child Support Workers to join our growing agency team supporting children and young people across residential children's homes and supported accommodation settings. About the Role
As a Residential Child Support Worker, you will provide practical and emotional support to children and young people with a range of complex needs and backgrounds. The young people we support may experience:
- Learning disabilities
- Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD)
- Placement breakdowns in foster or adoptive homes
- Poor mental health and social/emotional difficulties
- Attachment disorders
- Criminal exploitation or child sexual exploitation
- Substance misuse
- Inappropriate sexualised behaviours
- Self-harm or suicidal ideation
- Vulnerabilities and risks within the community
You will play a key role in creating a safe, stable and nurturing environment while supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes and develop independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting young people with day-to-day routines and activities
- Building positive and trusting relationships
- Promoting emotional wellbeing and independence
- Managing behaviours using calm and therapeutic approaches
- Ensuring the safety and welfare of young people at all times
- Completing daily records and handovers
- Working closely with permanent staff and external professionals
Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must:
- Hold a full UK driving licence and be able to drive
- Have a minimum of 6 months experience working with children or young people in residential childcare, supported accommodation, schools, youth work or similar settings
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one
- Be flexible to work a variety of shifts
- Be able to commit to a minimum of 24 hours per week
