Duties: Encourage and prompt young people with personal care, including dressing, washing, personal hygiene and appropriate self-care Develop positive, trusting and professional relationships with the young person.
Act as a positive role model by demonstrating appropriate behaviour, communication and emotional regulation.
Provide emotional support and reassurance during periods of anxiety, distress or frustration.
Plan and participate in enjoyable activities based around the young person's interests.
Keep young people engaged throughout the shift by providing meaningful activities and reducing boredom.
Manage behaviours that may challenge using a calm, patient and therapeutic approach.
Follow Behaviour Support Plans, Risk Assessments and Individual Care Plans at all times.
Use de-escalation techniques to manage conflict safely and effectively.
Maintain consistent routines and boundaries to help young people feel secure.
Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times.
