I am recruiting for an experienced
Assistant Service Manager
to support the day-to-day management of a supported accommodation service for young people aged 1618. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong leadership experience within supported accommodation, residential childcare or social care, who is passionate about safeguarding, positive outcomes and supporting young people towards independence. Key Responsibilities: Support the Registered Service Manager with the effective day-to-day management of the service. Provide leadership, guidance and support to staff, promoting a positive and accountable team culture. Ensure safeguarding concerns, incidents and risks are identified, recorded and escalated appropriately. Support staff to manage risks relating to exploitation, missing episodes, substance misuse, self-harm and other safeguarding concerns. Ensure young people receive person-centred, strengths-based support that promotes independence and preparation for adulthood. Monitor keywork sessions and ensure they are meaningful, purposeful and outcome-focused. Contribute to support plans, risk assessments, pathway plans and reviews. Support staff with supervision, performance management, coaching and professional development. Monitor staff attendance, performance, conduct and compliance with policies and procedures. Support the maintenance of accurate training records and ensure staff remain appropriately trained. Assist with audits, quality assurance, record keeping and preparation for inspections. Monitor incidents, safeguarding concerns and missing episodes, ensuring appropriate follow-up and learning. Support young people's health, wellbeing, education, employment and training needs. Ensure young people develop essential independent living skills, including budgeting, cooking, cleaning, shopping and tenancy responsibilities. Promote positive relationships with Social Workers, Personal Advisers, Police, education providers, health professionals and other relevant agencies. Help ensure the accommodation remains safe, clean, well-maintained and suitable for the young people living there. Ensure records, handovers, incident reports and support documentation are accurate, timely and professional. Promote dignity, respect, appropriate professional boundaries and young people's participation in decisions about their lives. Support continuous improvement across the service and ensure actions from audits and inspections are followed through. Experience Experience working with young people in supported accommodation, residential care, or a similar setting. (1 year required) Previous supervisory or leadership experience. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection. Ability to remain calm and make informed decisions under pressure. A genuine passion for supporting young people to reach their full potential. Requirements: Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People's Workforce (or equivalent). Level 5 Leadership qualification (or willingness to work towards it). Full UK driving licence.
