Our Peterborough based client is now looking for an additional person to join their team of buyers. This manufacturing company are market leaders in their field and are looking for someone who has experience organizing and purchasing products and services. You will also be responsible for purchasing all products and services for use within the business at the best possible terms. For this role you will ideally need a background in manufacturing and experience in fabrication buying is preferred but not essential. This procurement role is full time, permanent and hybrid, Salary is dependent on experience £30K £32K plus and excellent non salaried benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Able to evaluate suppliers on prices, quality of products and average shipping times, maintaining a usable approved supplier database.
- Reviewing supplier's price quotes and financial reports before negotiating contracts.
- Visit supplier's premises to learn more about their products, product varieties and the services they offer.
- Meet with staff and vendors to review defective merchandise and arrange for returns and replacements.
- Maintain records of the products they purchase, including the names, descriptions, costs and delivery times.
- Ensure that components required for contract builds are within budget and explore options to minimise costs when unable to get within budget.
- Prepare purchase orders and review requisitions for goods and services.
- Send out drawings and specifications to suppliers to obtain prices and delivery times.
- Maintain KPI's such as on time deliveries to measure suppliers and help improve performance.
- Chase suppliers for late deliveries.
- Monitor and follow applicable laws and regulations.
- Consignment stock checks.
- Prepare and supply any free issue stocks that are needed.
Key Skills:
- At least one year's experience working within a purchasing department.
- Background in Fabrication preferred but not essential.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good negotiating skills.
- Understanding of Excel and Microsoft System.
