Scotts Fuels is one of Northern Ireland's leading fuels and lubricants companies, with more than 75 years of experience serving customers across the region. We are creating an exciting new opportunity for a proactive and experienced Credit Control Officer to join our busy Finance team in Omagh.
This is an excellent role for a credit-control professional who enjoys taking ownership of their work. You will manage customer accounts, build strong relationships with customers and colleagues, help protect the company's cash flow, and contribute to the efficient running of a fast-paced finance function.
The Role
As Credit Control Officer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the company’s credit-control activities across multiple entities. You will ensure customer accounts are maintained accurately, agreed payment terms are followed, and outstanding debt is managed professionally and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the company’s credit control function and ensure customers adhere to agreed payment terms
- Monitor customer credit limits and carry out credit checks for new account applications
- Maintain and reconcile the sales ledger across multiple entities
- Chase outstanding payments by telephone, email and written correspondence
- Negotiate payment arrangements where appropriate and follow up on agreed commitments
- Resolve customer account queries in a timely, professional and customer-focused manner
- Prepare and maintain aged-debt reports for management review
- Liaise with internal departments to resolve invoicing, delivery and account-related issues efficiently
- Maintain accurate customer account records and supporting documentation
- Assist with general credit-control administration
- Support the continuous improvement of finance processes and controls
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in a Credit Control, Accounts Receivable or similar finance role
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Confidence dealing professionally with customers regarding outstanding payments
- Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and manage a busy workload
- A proactive approach with strong problem-solving abilities
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
- Experience of sales ledgers, account reconciliation and aged-debt reporting would be advantageous
