Scotts Bakery are a specialist manufacturer of Small Cakes supplying the Irish and GB Markets. We have a vacancy for the Position of New Product Development Technician. Our Products and Customers are at the heart of everything we do. The ideal candidate will be creative, practical, motivated and organised. They will work as part of an existing team, performing a key role in researching the latest cake trends, responding to customer sample enquiries and developing these in-line with our production capabilities.

Hours of work: Full-time / Part-time will be considered

Rate of Pay: Experience Dependant

Reporting to: NPD Manager

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Respond to customer briefs with products aligned to production capabilities
  • Develop and produce customer samples to a high-quality standard
  • Arrange sample delivery
  • Communication of sample details to the wider team
  • Working with the relevant departments to bring sample products to first production
  • Recipe and process formulation
  • Ensure product development procedures are adhered to
  • Maintain relevant documentation
  • Organise and participate in Shelf-life testing of new and current recipes/ decorations
  • Research and develop new product ideas and trends
  • Facilitate market reviews in Irish & GB Markets

Criteria:

  • We are seeking motivation and a strong enthusiasm to develop a career in an interesting and rewarding role.
  • Qualifications and Previous experience may be advantageous but enthusiasm is essential.
  • High attention to detail
  • Professional and confident communicator
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks
  • Food Technical qualification is desirable, but not essential
  • Self-motivated toward continuous improvement & personal development
