Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland. At Scottish Water, we look after Scotland's most precious natural resource. From source to tap, we are guarding Scotland's reputation for refreshingly pure water and caring for our environment at the same time.

We are looking for motivated people to join the Isle of Arran Area Team within Customer Service Delivery.

What you'll do

You will join a motivated multifunctional team who are committed to making a real difference to the experience our customers have with us. This is not just a task-driven role - you will be empowered to take ownership of problems, investigate them fully, initiate solutions and provide support to our customers.

You will be responsible for carrying out excavation, maintenance and repair on water networks and a variety of other tasks including maintaining water network assets such as service reservoirs and pumping stations, dealing with customer-facing related issues on a day-to-day basis. The focus of the role will be to ensure the resolution of customer issues and the recovery of any reputational impact our operations have on customers.

As a member of our multifunctional response team, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours multifunctional standby rota which, in addition to the water-related tasks listed above, will include carrying out maintenance and choke clearing on sewer networks and a variety of other tasks.

What you'll bring

You will spend a fair amount of time working alone, so you'll need to be self-motivated, but still eager to contribute to your team's goals. Basic IT skills are a must, as you'll be using digital equipment and apps throughout the day. You'll need report writing skills too - nothing fancy, but enough to get your point across clearly, quickly, and accurately.

An understanding of health and safety principles for site working or skills in basic ground maintenance is required. A full, clean UK driving licence is non-negotiable, and ideally, a Category C1 Driving licence and a digger/excavator ticket would also be an advantage, but full training will be provided to the right candidate. It would be desirable if you have some ground maintenance skills and knowledge of water and sewer networks. Although, full training will be provided such as digger training, HGV training & street works just to name a few.

Looking out for you

While the work we do is important, we know it's not the only thing that matters. That's why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance. This role includes standby responsibilities and there is the possibility of overtime. But you'll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). You can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take time off to volunteer in your community.

When it comes to major life events, we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working.

For your future, there's our pension (the 'know-what-you'll-get-when-you-retire' kind) and life assurance. As for some nice extras? You will participate in a company bonus scheme. Not to mention access to SW Splash - handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping.

The not-so-small print

This role will be a Grade 4. If you're new to Scottish Water, you'll join us on a starting salary of £31,640. Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £36,460.

Job offers at Scottish Water are conditional and will be confirmed on completion of our pre-employment screening, e.g. referencing, criminal record checks, license checks, etc. These checks are conducted on our behalf by a third party. Don't worry - we'll ask your permission before starting these checks.

A few final things worth knowing... Research shows that some people avoid applying for jobs unless they can meet every single criteria. If you're interested in this job, but don't tick all the boxes, apply anyway! We hardly ever hire people who can do every part of a job from Day One. Everyone has a learning curve. So don't rule yourself out!

Let us know if there are any changes we can make to our recruitment process to help you perform at your best. Lots of our people have disabilities or neurodiverse conditions (including some of our recruiters!). We're also aware that some people might be experiencing temporary challenges because of life events, like menopause. We're very used to making adjustments, so please don't be afraid to ask.

As part of our commitment to developing a flourishing Scotland, it's important that all our employees are Scottish taxpayers. If you join us, your home address will need to be in Scotland. If you don't already live here, you'll need to relocate.
