Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.
We're looking for a Customer Planning Technician to join our Waste Services Transport Scheduling Team on a 12 month fixed term/secondment. In this role, you'll help deliver an efficient and reliable tanker service, working closely with operational teams and customers to provide an excellent customer experience and support the delivery of key operational objectives.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our innovative Bioresource Team, where you'll play a key role in planning tanker services, coordinating resources and delivering an excellent customer experience. Working closely with colleagues across the business, you'll help ensure our transport operations run safely, efficiently and effectively while supporting the delivery of vital waste services for communities across Scotland.
About the Role
As a Customer Planning Technician, you'll be responsible for scheduling tanker services across a designated geographic area, ensuring work is planned efficiently and customer requirements are met.
You'll work closely with operational teams who rely on transport logistics to achieve their objectives, helping to deliver a reliable and responsive service.
Customer service will be at the heart of everything you do. You'll support both domestic and commercial customers, including those requiring septic tank services, providing clear communication and ensuring a positive experience throughout their journey with us.
You'll also be responsible for maintaining accurate data and managing the systems that support our transport scheduling activities. Using your attention to detail and organisational skills, you'll help ensure information is up to date, workloads are effectively planned and services are delivered efficiently.
This is a fast-paced role where no two days are the same, offering the opportunity to work with a wide range of colleagues and customers while making a meaningful contribution to the success of our front‑line operations.
What You'll Do
You'll play a key role in ensuring a high‑quality service is delivered to both internal and external customers. Working as part of a busy team, you'll plan and schedule workloads across our tanker fleet, helping to make sure resources are used effectively and customer needs are met.
You'll work closely with customers, taking the time to understand their requirements, managing expectations and providing excellent service throughout their journey. You'll also build strong relationships with operational teams across the business, understanding demand requirements and coordinating activities to support an efficient and effective service.
In addition, you'll coordinate contractor activities, maintain accurate records and data, and use a range of digital systems to support daily operations and performance reporting.
What You'll Need
We're looking for someone who is organised, customer‑focused and enjoys working in a fast‑paced environment. You'll be confident planning and prioritising your workload while remaining flexible when priorities change.
You'll have excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. As a positive and collaborative team player, you'll enjoy working with others to achieve shared goals and be keen to learn and develop.
You'll also have strong data handling and Microsoft Excel skills, alongside confidence using a range of digital systems and software packages. Most importantly, you'll bring a proactive, reliable approach and a positive 'can-do' attitude to everything you do.
Training will be provided, so we're looking for someone with the enthusiasm, professionalism and willingness to learn needed to succeed in the role.
Looking out for you
- You’ll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take paid time off to volunteer in your community.
- When it comes to major life events we have family‑friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working.
- For your future, there's our pension (the 'know‑what‑you'll‑get‑when‑you‑retire' kind), as well as life assurance.
- As for some nice extras? You will participate in a company bonus scheme. Not to mention access to SW Splash - handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping.
